Putting the as[s] in bias

Source: University OKs pagan festival, bans Christian event

Druids, heathens, shamans and witches welcomed at school that banned Bible

I just came across this article on reddit and I had to say something about it.

It starts out implying an inequality of religious tolerance:

Scotland’s University of Edinburgh, after proposing a ban on Bibles and denying a Christian campus group the right to hold a conference on the immorality of homosexuality, has extended the welcome mat to the school’s Pagan Society to hold its annual meeting on campus next month.

It goes on to quote John Macintyre, the presidering officer of the Pagan Federation Scotland he speaks of how the pagan festival is one of education on the pagan religious values in a tolerant atmosphere and then ends by saying, “Most people now recognize that the old stereotypes about witches and witchcraft are way off the mark and there is nothing remotely sinister about it.”

The article continues,

“Remotely sinister,” it seems, is reserved for Christians at Edinburgh.

Really? Is that what it is? The University is intentionally singling out Christians is the slant the article seems to be taking but lets look back at the article. The University did not ban the bible, as stated in the title and first few paragraphs (the only part that is most often read,) they merely removed the Gideon bible that used to be placed in each of the student’s dorm rooms so they could be more religiously sensitive. And for the same reason they removed the prayer from the graduation speech. This is not an attack on the the Christian religion, it is respecting the people of other religions, and those without a religion.

So that leaves us with the event that they were denied, the one on teaching the “immorality of homosexuality.” Yes that’s right the Christians of Edinburgh were denied their intolerant, hate mongering parade. Boo effin hoo. In fact, the University was willing to let them have it as long as they presented an alternative view, from which they took offense, and one Matthew Tindale, a Chrisian Union staffer, tried to actually equate a talk about the “dangers of homosexuality,” to a talk on racial tolerance. How twisted the minds of these people to think that talking about homosexual intolerance is the same as racial tolerance. What’s next? An event on… I can’t even think of something more absurd right now.

The bias in this article is not subtle, it is equating the University’s good judgment in preventing an event based on hate and fear mongering to that of allowing an event that speaks to family values and tolerance, the title very clearly paints a picture that a great injustice is occurring but the meat of the article, to any free-thinking individual is apparent that there is nothing to see here, move along folks

You are absolutely wrong. The fact is, Christianity, the REAL Christianity, that follows the REAL Jesus, brings with it Conviction of Sin.Its not the people that bring the conviction. Its the WORD. The WORD judges people. Don’t get angry at the people who are merely quoting the bible. Get angry at Jesus. Its his words, not ours. People really don’t like Jesus. They like what he did, but they don’t want him to be Lord over them. They want to do “good works” but they don’t want him to come and rule in their lives. They want to look like him, without going through what he went through. They want to “look” like Jesus(i.e. good works whatever) but they don’t want his ways.He IS a consuming Fire, coming to burn up all those works of darkness that keep us from experiencing his lofe.He WILL burn it up. He is totally UNLIKE what most people think he is.(because most people don’t read the bible.) And if people really could see him as he REALLY is, probably most people would not follow him.He is offensive. He’s beautiful and offensive. Therefore, those who are trying their best to follow him and desire to adhere to his ways, will ultimately find the same sort of “Troubles” that Jesus experienced. Those who don’t believe they want his love, but not his cleansing fire. He is NOT a permissive God. Like most of the jacked up parents in this world, who let their children get away with anything. God is completely unlike US.This is the truth. Whether people want it or not. But its the truth, there is a double edge sword to his message. Can’t you see that? Its a double edged sword that actually sets people free. Why do you think he said the way was Narrow??? He wasn’t just picking his nose and shooting the breeze with his disciples. He was telling them. This is not an easy path. Many would rather go the broadway. Because it requires of them nothing. But my yoke is easy and my burden is light.. but pick up your own cross and follow me. Follow my example. This is NOT an easy path. Most people know that. Thats why they hate when Christians take a stand on sin.He is not a weak and mild, milksop. The fact is, when believers teach the principles of the bible(this is called discipleship incidently) as the bible states them, this will automatically bring a collision.Because it reveals EVERYTHING about you that is NOT LIKE HIM!And this HURTS. Because the principles of Jesus the Lord bring conviction and bring a glaring spot light on sin. Those who don’t want to admit that they fall short, will ultimately be upset. Its so easy, this is like kindergarten. The thing is, Scotland and the rest of watered down Western World don’t know what real Christianity is, as they have swallowed the false, lukewarm, “I love Jesus but i’m gonna do my own thing. I think Jesus was a cool man but you know thats about it. Yeah Jesus is coool.” for so long. Read the Book. As a side note, believers shouldn’t expect to get any help from the world’s system. God says to come out of the world and its ways because it and its dark ways, its rebellion against him are passing away. Too many believers are straddling the fence and expecting a world that hates Jesus to defend them. This will never happen. So I wish people would really get real. They aren’t mad at Christians. They are mad at the God they follow. They don’t want God. They don’t want Jesus. They don’t want the light or righteousness. Their gods are their own passions and they like them that way. Its very obvious. Its really quite simple. For goodness sake.. no more lukewarmness! Either be Hot or Cold for Jesus. We already know Edinburgh Uni is decidedly cold. There can be no common ground.Light and darkness can have no fellowship. Why is this so surprising to people? This is the truth.

LOL I am SO glad I checked my spam filters this little gem was just about lost in the bit bucket. The wall of text is hard to read and I’m not sure what I’m wrong about she never really attacked anything specific as far as I could tell, but it does illustrate how bat shiat crazy some religious folk can get.

We did not invent the algorithm. The algorithm killed Jeeves. The algorithm constantly finds Jesus. This is not the algorithm. This is close.
